First Mt Juliet

We are excited for the opportunity to take students to Student Leadership University (SLU) in 2024. We are planning to take a team to SLU 201 in Washington, D.C. from July 15-19th.

SLU is a credible ministry that exists to “equip the students of today to be the Christian leaders of tomorrow.” This is not a retreat, a camp, or a mission trip. This is a top-tier leadership conference. In just four days students will be sitting in 12+ sessions led by high-impact leaders, experts, and executives covering a variety of topics such as Rules and Tools of Leadership, Worldview Development, Business Leadership, Personality Assessment, Time and Goal Management, Calling, Influence, Cultural Engagement, and more. We believe the SLU experience can inspire, equip, and propel students into strong ownership of their faith, the pursuit of a life of servant leadership, and an all-in commitment to be who God has created them to be for His kingdom purposes. Each year, this opportunity is available to students in 8th-12th grades. We take one combined group comprised of students from Mt. Juliet Christian Academy and the Student Ministry of First Mt. Juliet. There is limited space for each group, and we desire to take a group of students with potential and commitment. Therefore, we ask each student planning to go to Student Leadership University to complete the application process to the best of their ability.

There are two parts to the SLU Application/Registration process: Personal and Reference.

For the Personal part of this application, each student and their family need to complete the SLU Student Application/Registration Form.

For the Reference part of this application, have an adult in your life complete the SLU Adult Reference form. Choose an adult that is important to you, knows you well, and will give you an honest reference (cannot be a family member).

Important Dates:

March 24: Applications for SLU 201 are due.

April 7: $250 deposit is due.

May 19: $500 deposit is due + ALL waivers and SLU forms are due

June 16: Remaining balance is due

Estimated Costs:

SLU 201: ~$1350 (SLU conference: $1039 + Flights ~ $300)

The final cost of this SLU trip is not finalized yet due to flight costs. We will inform you of the final cost once we know those final details. In order to manage applications and funds all in one place, all payments will be made out to First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet via check.
